Shirts are a wardrobe staple, but it can be a challenge to find the perfect fit and fabric in a store bought shirt. This is a class for those who would like to make their own dress shirts.

In this class we learn:

  • Techniques for crisp collar stands and collars.
  • How to sew button bands and buttonholes.
  • Techniques for cuffs and plackets.
  • How to sew flat fell or french seams for a neat internal finish.
  • How to sew a narrow hem for a professional shirt hem.

Level:  This class has a number of more advanced techniques, so is best suited to students who have several sewing projects under their belt.  Students should be comfortable cutting fabric and operating a sewing machine.

Materials: Students are required to provide their own pattern, fabric and notions needed for their shirt. A list of suggested patterns will be provided.

Cost: $175

Teacher:  This class is taught by our awesome sewing expert, Brendan Goudswaard.

To register for the class, please email Wendy with your name, a contact number and the name of the class you’d like to be in as the subject line.

Location: this class will be held at Made Marion’s new location at 166 Cuba St – between Ghuznee and Vivian Sts, beside Duck Island Ice Cream.
