T-shirts are the perfect wardrobe staple, from short sleeved tops for summer wear, to long sleeved merinos for layering in winter. Learning how to make your own T-shirts means you’ll never be stuck with T-shirts that don’t fit, don’t last, and don’t have your favourite fit and design features, from hems to necklines.
We’ll work through basic tips to make sewing knit seams easy, with no stretching and warping; how to set in sleeves in knit fabrics, and how to finish necklines and sleeve edges; and finally, how to hem a T-shirt for a professional finish.
Students can choose from a number of T-shirt patterns for men or women, and with different cuts and design features.
Level: Students should have some experience sewing, be comfortable using a sewing machine, and be able to cut and sew precisely.
Materials: Students must supply their own knit fabric and pattern (options include free printable patterns): suitable patterns and fabric guidelines will be sent upon registration
Cost: $110
Teacher: This class is taught by our awesome sewing expert Brendan Goudswaard.
